Time frames vary depending on current project load and the details of your custom refinish. Generally, it takes us 3-6 weeks to refinish from the time that we have the pieces in our shop.

 

PICK UP AND DELIVERY OPTIONS

For pick up/delivery, we can recommend a local service that has great reviews from all of our previous clients. Available locally and to NYC, CT, NJ.

SOME OPTIONS IN ADDITION TO PAINT...

  • paint/change the hardware

  • wallpaper on surfaces (backs of hutches, secretaries, etc)

  • furniture transfers (drawer sides, furniture, cabinet doors, etc)

  • repairs (fixing drawers, adding reclaimed tops or new feet, etc)

 

HOW TO PICK COLORS?

Our go to paint is Benjamin Moore. We also use some specialty paints with matte finishes. If you select a custom color that we do not have in stock, there may be an additional fee to cover the cost of the quart. Lighting can greatly affect colors. Natural light, warm light, fluorescent light – all can make the hues of colors vary slightly. Colors also vary from screen to screen so you cannot go by what you see online.

 

Don’t be shy from using color on your pieces! If you need some ideas, let us know what colors your eye is drawn to and we recommend some shop favorites to you! Or browse colors and bring swatches into your space to see them there.

HARDWARE OPTIONS:

Original hardware on many of these pieces tends to be worth keeping, but if you'd like to replace hardware, please note the following. The cost/ordering of new hardware is the customers responsibility. Hardware can be shipped directly to us upon request. Shipping address different than store location. If we need to adjust the holes for new hardware, there will be an additional labor fee. If we are updating the hardware on your piece, new hardware must be dropped off at the same time as the piece because adjusting the holes is one of our first steps.

The original hardware can also be sprayed a different color; flat black, gold, white, antique brass, etc.

 

DO YOU FINISH THE BACKS AND INSIDE?

In most cases we will paint the back to help give the piece a finished feel but there are times that we

choose to leave it. Please specific if you do/do not want the back painted.

We typically do not paint the interior of the drawers if they are in good condition with a clean finish. Sometimes the wood in old drawers is unfinished/dry/stained, in which case, we will paint them. This gives you a finished surface for your belongings to be stored in. All drawers get thoroughly cleaned either way. Furniture with glass doors/visible interiors can be left natural or refinished (hutch, tall secretary, curio, etc). Please specify your preference.

UPON COMPLETION:

We will reach out a few days prior to your piece being finished to schedule pick up. Please arrange for pick up of your piece(s) as soon as possible. We can hold onto them for ~ 1 week after completion. The sooner the better as we are always needing the space these days!

 

We try to be very understanding of those who are working on a home renovation or out of town, and do not want to charge for storage. But there will be a storage rate of $10/day if they are here longer than normal or than we’ve discussed. We cannot store your pieces or take our time with them as we have to keep things moving along. Thank you for your understanding!

 

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR REFINISHED VINTAGE FURNITURE:

All of our refinished furniture is sealed with a waterborne product. Painted surfaces with paste wax and stained surfaces with a matte polyurethane. If you need to clean your piece, please do so gently, with a clean damp cloth. If needed, use a little mild soap and warm water. Then gently wipe dry. After sending us an email with photos, we can provide some details and a quote. From there, a deposit is required to secure all custom projects on the schedule. The balance will be due upon completion. If you need to reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible.

Provide photos of the pieces and dimensions. If you would like color/finish suggestions, please include a photo(s) of the space/room that the furniture will be going in!
