Furniture Refinishing FAQ

  • Do you refinish other peoples furniture?

    • We sure do!

  • How do I get a quote for your to refinish my furniture?

    • We always try to start with having photos of the furniture sent to us. We can chat about the desired finish/look and price it virtually. Then we would schedule to get the pieces to our shop.

  • Do you pick up/deliver?

    • Locally, yes. We do our best to accommodate those farther away as well. So be sure to reach out and ask if we’re able to help with pick up and delivery.

  • Are all the pieces in your store already refinished?

    • No. We have finish and “unfinished” furniture available. The first candidates for a makeover are the ones with more wear and tear; needs repairs, has missing veneer, too many scratches. Pieces in their original finish and still looking good, we tend to keep original for a while. Unfinished pieces are available for purchase “as is” or pick your custom finish and we’ll give it a custom makeover for you!

  • Do you sell pieces that other people can refinish themselves?

    • Absolutely. We have a tent in the salvage yard that is great for someone looking for a project. These are the items that we refer to as “as is” when pricing.

  • Will you come to my house to refinish my pieces of furniture?

    • We do all of our custom refinishing in our shop located in Peconic, NY. In some cases when pieces are built-in’s or circumstances prevent the pieces from ever being able to be moved, then we can try our best to accommodate you, just reach out!

  • How long does it take for a custom refinish project?

    • Time frame varies based on schedule and project size. We do our best to keep it less than 4-5 weeks. And we’re happy to do our best to accommodate on rush orders!

  • Will you come to my house and help me pick colors?

    • Unfortunately this isn’t a service we offer. We like to thing we have good taste, but we are not experienced interior designers. However, we can refer some great local professionals to assist you!

  • Do you have colors for me to pick from?

    • We have some color swatches on paint sticks available for browsing. Lots of past colors used, popular colors and our personal favorites! You’re welcome to choose any color out there though!

  • What kind of paint do you use?

    • Our go-to is Benjamin Moore in pearl/satin finish. But we’ve worked with just about all of it. Milk paint, real milk paint, chalk paint, all the latex finishes. We’re happy to help you pick which is best based on your desired look/finish!

  • Where do your pieces come from?

    • We find majority of our pieces here on Long Island. From buying one single item from a customer, or doing full house clean outs.

  • Can you lighten the wood tone/color on my furniture?

    • In some cases, we are able to assist with this. Because we don't use chemicals to strip furniture, we are limited to the areas that we can get down to natural for a change in wood/stain color. Many times we'll do this look on the tops of furniture because we remove the old finish with a sander by hand. If this question pertains to you, send us photos of your pieces and we'll let you know if we can help. If we can't, we can recommend you to someone who can!

  • Do you teach classes on refinishing?

    • Unfortunately we're not able to do classes at this time. Our space is limited and there just isn't enough time in the week!
